Once we reached the village of Apoteri, however, any difficulty getting there quickly became part of what made the experience so memorable. We spent an incredible week fishing the rivers, exploring the surrounding rainforest, and getting to know the Amerindian people who welcomed us into their community. We left Guyana feeling like we had barely scratched the surface, and enjoyed our time in Apoteri enough that we’ve already planned a return trip.
